My Current/New Journey
Hey there,
It's been a minute since I last posted, but here you go. This one is going to be very personal and exciting for me all at the same time. For years I have struggled with my weight and health issues. I currently have high blood pressure, asthma, anemia and am pre diabetic. I have tried to lose weight on my own via eating better (definitely does not work all the time because I LOVE food) and exercising. I love to workout so that is not a major issue for me. For about the past year and a half I've had major back issues which cause me to miss a lot of workouts. The most weight I have been able to lose on my own was 50 pounds, but I have gained ALL of that back plus some. Okay vulnerable and very transparent moment: I am currently at my heaviest weight EVER of 384 pounds. It may not look like it to most, but that is my absolute truth. I have gone back and forth with the idea of getting weight loss surgery, but when I saw that number on the scale I said I had to do something and this seems to be my best option. So I have started the process of getting the gastric bypass. I had my initial consult on April 1st and it went really well. My insurance company requires that I be under a 6 month supervised program with my doctor so that is where I am now. There are other requirements that the insurance company and my weight loss surgeon have in order for me to be approved such as psychological evaluation, nutrition evaluation, stress test, sleep study and EGD. I am glad that I finally made the decision to have the surgery because I found out that I have severe sleep apnea. Had I not started the process I would never have been tested. So I see it as a blessing in disguise. This will definitely be one of the harder things that I will have to do, but I am up for the challenge. I'm on my way to a healthier better me.
