8 Months Post Op

I know I know...I've been away for a while. I am still working very hard on my weight loss journey though. I am 8 months post op - gastric bypass - as of June 5th. I have lost over 100 lbs from my highest recorded weight in March 2016 and 96 lbs from my surgery day weight. I feel really good right now and look even better. I notice a lot of my changes in pictures. I have accomplished a lot of non-scale victories since surgery such as being able to sit with my legs crossed, sitting Indian style comfortably and being able to run. I have incorporated running into my workout regimen and I'm beginning to really like it. I can't wait to see how my body changes from here. I have also started to kind of think about plastics and whether that is something I will want to do. Prior to surgery I was absolutely not going to do it, but seeing all the changes and the excess skin is making me have a change of heart. I will keep you posted on my decision and the next phase of my journey. L

PostOp Update

Image
Hi guys, Just wanted to provide an update on my process. On October 4th I had an IVC filter placed to aid withany possible blood clot issues. It was about a 15 minute procedure. The following day was my actual gastric bypass surgery.  It took around an hour or so to complete. There were no complications. Everything went so smooth. After waking from the anesthesia I had a lot of gas pains. That was my only issue with pain. I was discharged home the day after surgery. I've been walking and making progress everyday since surgery. I'll have my IVC filter removed on Tuesday, November 1st. As far as postop diet I'm currently in the soft food phase so I can have things like soft scrambled eggs, ricotta bake, grits, oatmeal, mashed beans, mashed potatoes, any flaky fish (tilapia for me), etc. I've been doing really good with my vitamins. I'm working daily on getting in my required protein and fluid amounts. My goals for November are to continue to work on protein intake,

Update Update Update

So much has happened since my last post. I have completed all the requirements of my surgeon and my health insurance as of September 12th. My paperwork was submitted to my insurance company on the 13th and I received approval on the 14th. Most people wait weeks for their approval. The date for surgery that was given to the insurance company was October 14th. I went in for my second consultation with my surgeon last week on September 22nd and was given my actual surgery date of October 5th. It's right around the corner guys. Tomorrow (9/27) I start my pre-op liquid diet. I'm so close to being on the losers bench. I'm so excited that it's finally about to happen and my life is going to change. I will be sure to keep you updated as surgery gets closer and do my first post op update as well.  KeKe_dalrny

It Just Got REAL...

Here's another update on my progress and process. I had a couple appointments at my surgeon's office yesterday. I completed nutrition class 5 out of 6. So one more to go. I gained a little weight since last month's visit though. It's okay though. I also had a followup with my surgeon regarding the results of my EGD that was completed last month. I found out that I have a hernia that will have to also be repaired during my gastric bypass surgery. Glad it's going to be taken care of at the same time instead of having to do a separate surgery. My surgeon also ordered a butt load of labs for me to do. I'm anemic so he wants to make sure that I don't need an iron transfusion prior to surgery. I am down to this one last nutrition appointment then my paperwork goes to the insurance company for approval. I could be having surgery for my birthday this year. It is so close and I'm still excited about it. I now need to start stocking up on my vitamins, protein shak

Process Update

Hi guys, I just wanted to give you an update on my bariatric surgery process. I am down to the final months of my 6 month supervised program. I have completed all of my required appointments. I have 2 nutrition appointments left - Aug. 8th and Sept. 12th. After that my paperwork will be submitted to my insurance company for approval. They have up to 15 days to respond. Hopefully it won't take that long. It seems that I just might be having surgery around my birthday in October. I'm glad this part of the process is almost over. I'll be back as soon as I have more information to share with you. Love, Keke_dalrny

My Current/New Journey

Image
Hey there, It's been a minute since I last posted, but here you go. This one is going to be very personal and exciting for me all at the same time. For years I have struggled with my weight and health issues. I currently have high blood pressure, asthma, anemia and am pre diabetic. I have tried to lose weight on my own via eating better (definitely does not work all the time because I LOVE food) and exercising. I love to workout so that is not a major issue for me. For about the past year and a half I've had major back issues which cause me to miss a lot of workouts. The  most weight I have been able to lose on my own was 50 pounds, but I have gained ALL of that back plus some. Okay vulnerable and very transparent moment: I am currently at my heaviest weight EVER of 384 pounds. It may not look like it to most, but that is my absolute truth. I have gone back and forth with the idea of getting weight loss surgery, but when I saw that number on the scale I said I had to do somet

All Of Me...

Wow I can't believe it's been soooo long since I've posted something. Needless to say I absolutely have to do much better. I can tell you there have been so many changes in my life since I've last posted, but it's all for the better. I'm taking my blog in a different direction now. It was initially focused on my health and fitness journey, but I am more than that. I will now include everything that makes up my life experiences - the real Freeman Experience. From personal life experiences to health and fitness to work-life balance and my journey for a stronger personal relationship with Christ. I hope you're ready for the ride. I know I am and I can't wait to share with you all.
